Seven out of ten Filipinos are still bitter about the election of an Argentine instead of a Filipino as the new pope, according to the latest Sociable Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The respondents claimed that Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Tagle "was the best priest ever" and "the most credible man to lead the 1.2 billion Catholics in the world." Many cited Korina Sanchez's stories as proof.

"The new pope [former Buenos Aires Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio] was not even in Reuters' top 12 choices to replace Pope Benedict!" one subject reportedly exclaimed.

"What do those who voted for him know?"

Some also questioned the new pope's capacity to hold such an intense post, since [Pope Francis] has "fewer lungs than Cardinal Tagle."

More than half among those who disagreed with the conclave's decision strongly supported a recount of the votes.

When informed that the cardinals' ballot papers were burned after every round of voting, the respondents became even more suspicious.

"Never has there been a more obvious conspiracy since Jessica Sanchez was robbed of her rightful American Idol title," a different interviewee said.

The SWS conducted the survey among ten adults aged 20-50 in Malate, Manila. The poll has a +/-50 margin of error.
